1. Overland via Kathmandu (most popular)
13 days for Indian pilgrims | 17 days for NRI & foreigners. Crosses the Nepal-Tibet border overland — the classic route operated since 1995.
2. Helicopter from Nepalgunj / Lucknow
9 days. Ideal for limited time or reduced trekking. Fly to Hilsa/Simikot area, then proceed by road/helicopter to Kailash.
3. Kailash via Lhasa — 15 Days
From Kathmandu. Includes a Tibet cultural experience in Lhasa before Mount Kailash.

Eligibility & Fitness
EligibilityWho is eligible for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2027?

Anyone aged 12 to 70 years with a valid passport can join Kailash Journeys' private Nepal-route Yatra. No lottery or government selection — booking is direct and confirmed. All nationalities welcome: Indian, NRI, foreign, Nepali, and Australian passport holders all have dedicated packages.
A doctor's fitness certificate is mandatory. Those with serious heart conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, or severe respiratory issues should consult their physician before registering. Over-70 pilgrims may join under certain conditions — contact us to discuss.
FitnessHow physically fit do I need to be for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2027?

The Yatra is rated moderate to challenging. The Kailash Parikrama reaches 5,630 metres at Dolma La Pass. No prior trekking experience is needed, but we recommend:
• Start daily walking and light cardio 2–3 months before departure
• Maintain a healthy BMI (ideally 27 or below)
• Carry all regular personal medications
Acclimatization days are built into all itineraries. Ponies are available for hire during the Parikrama for pilgrims who need assistance.

You must arrange:
• Valid passport — minimum 6 months validity from Tibet entry date, with blank visa pages
• Passport-size photographs
• Doctor's fitness certificate — must confirm fitness for high-altitude trekking above 5,000 metres
• Completed Kailash Journeys booking form
Kailash Journeys handles the Tibet Travel Permit (TTP), Chinese Group Visa, Alien's Travel Permit, and Military Permit on your behalf. Non-Indian passport holders must submit coloured passport copies.
VisaDo I need a Chinese visa for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2027?

Yes. Since Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China, all pilgrims require:
• Chinese Group Tourist Visa
• Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) — issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau
• Alien's Travel Permit and Military Permit for the restricted Kailash region
Independent travel is not allowed. Kailash Journeys manages the entire permit process as part of your package. Processing takes 45–60 days. Do not book international flights before permit confirmation.

Kailash Parikrama (Kora) is the sacred 52 km circumambulation of Mount Kailash — the spiritual heart of the entire Yatra. It takes 3 days on foot, reaching a maximum altitude of 5,630 metres at Dolma La Pass. Revered in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, completing one parikrama is believed to cleanse the sins of a lifetime. Ponies are available for sections of the route.

Full Moon (Purnima) is considered the most auspicious time to be at Lake Mansarovar. Kailash Journeys schedules several batches timed so pilgrims arrive at Lake Mansarovar on Purnima night. The reflection of the full moon on the sacred lake is a deeply moving spiritual experience cherished by pilgrims across generations. Full Moon dates are the most in-demand and fill up months in advance — register early.

Via Lipulekh Pass or Nathu La Pass. Open only to Indian citizens aged 18–70, selected by a lottery system — not guaranteed. No foreign, NRI, or Nepali eligibility.
Kailash Journeys (private Nepal route):
Via Kathmandu — no lottery, direct confirmed booking. Open to Indian, NRI, foreign, Australian, and Nepali pilgrims. Multiple fixed dates May–September, with expert team leaders, cooks, Sherpas, and Tibetan guides since 1995.
