Everest Base Camp Trek (5,554 m) will take you to the foot of the Mount Everest, the most magnificent and highest peaks in the world.
Experience the beauty of the Nepal Himalaya with a trek to Everest Base Camp. This trek offers breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest and most famous peaks, including Everest, Lotse, Nuptse, and AmaDablam. Along the way, you’ll be welcomed by the Sherpa people, who are renowned for their warm hospitality and skills as mountain guides and porters.
The Everest region is also home to active and devout monasteries, which are the center of the Buddhist Lama culture. Festivals are plentiful and colorful, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the area. As you journey through the colorful and beautiful Sherpa villages, you’ll come across unique sights such as the Yeti’s skull and hands at Panchboche and the world’s highest monasteries at Tengboche.
The trek to Everest Base Camp involves a tremendous amount of up and down walking, but the stunning scenery and cultural experiences make it all worthwhile. Most treks begin with a flight to Lukla, a small STOL airstrip at 2,800m with a runway length of just 1,500 feet.
Embark on a magnificent journey with an Everest Base Camp trek and immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of the region.
DAY 1 – KATHMANDU: ARRIVAL DAY
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital and cultural hub of Nepal! We’ll be waiting with a warm greeting and easy transfer to your hotel. Plan on an evening briefing on last-minute specifics about your trek and an early lights-out: you have a big day ahead.
DAY 2 – KATHMANDU TO LUKLA FLIGHT AND PHAKDING
Altitude: 2,800m/9184ft (Lukla) & 2,652m/8,698ft (Phakding)
Walking Distance: 8km (3-4 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate. Flight time: 35 min
After a short morning flight to Lukla, you’ll be introduced to your guide and porter. Kick off your trek with an easy walk through Chaurikharka village and descent towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkoshi River until Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft), where we will be staying for the night to acclimatize. Enjoy your free time in Phakding, a popular stopping point.
DAY 3 – PHAKDING TO NAMCHE BAZAAR
Altitude: 3,440m/11,283ft Walking Distance: 10-12km (5-6 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
We’ll have breakfast in Phakding before gearing up for the trek to Namche Bazaar, the biggest sherpa village in Nepal. Our trail takes us first over the Dudhkoshi River via a long suspension bridge, and then through a beautiful pine forest to Monjo, about two hours away. Soon thereafter, we will approach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park for a brief permit check and then descend to Dudh Kosi River (spotting Mani stones along the way!) en route to Jorsale. Lunch will be served here, and then it’s uphill to Namche. Our path along the riverbank is flanked by two crossings, one of which is the Hillary Suspension Bridge. It’s a tough climb up the hill to our resting place, but you’ll be rewarded in Namche Bazaar with your first glimpse of Everest in its majesty.
DAY 4 – NAMCHE BAZAAR: REST AND ACCLIMATIZATION DAY
Altitude: 3,440m/11,283ft
At this point, we take a well-deserved break! Today will be spent resting and allowing our bodies to become acclimatized to the lofty altitude. There’s an optional 2 hour hike to Everest View Point, an uphill walk that will help speed acclimatization. Otherwise, spend the day exploring Namche Bazaar. Check out the Sherpa museum for an overview of the Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering. On Saturdays, the Hatt Bazaar is open for trading and an intimate look at the locals’ marketplace. It is part of the larger Namche Bazaar, a shopping hub filled with all manner of trekking and mountaineering clothing and equipment.
DAY 5 – NAMCHE BAZAAR TO TENGBOCHE OR DEBOCHE
Altitude: 3,870m/12,684ft Walking Distance: 10km (6 – 7 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
Breakfast in Namche Bazaar fuels us for another day of trekking towards Everest Base Camp today! Breathtaking views of the Himalayas – Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde – are some of the highlights not be missed. A short drop takes us to the riverside, then it’s across the river upwards through the forest pass. Brace your legs for a continual uphill trek at this point, alternating between a gradual grade and some seriously steep ground! Our destination, Tengboche, is known as one of the most beautiful places in the Everest region. Its views, which include Ama Dablam, are legendary. We’ll stop in on the Tengboche monastery, which is one of the largest in Khumbu. Nourish your spirit with a guided tour of the monastery grounds, followed by chanting and prayer with the resident Buddhist monks. DAY 6 – TENGBOCHE TO DINGBOCHE Altitude: 4,410m/14,435ft Walking Distance: 11km (6-7 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
Our trek today kicks off with a walk through the rhododendron forest to Deboche followed by a bridge over the raging Imja Khol River. We’ll pass the valley wall and then traverse the plains to Pangboche village, the biggest settlement of Sherpas in the region. Enjoy a great opportunity to observe a typical Sherpa village and have lunch with the locals! The intrepid can brave a brief hike to the Pangboche monastery, one of the oldest in the area. Our afternoon trek will be a difficult one, as the landscape gives way to dry, deserted mountains and we hike towards Dingboche.
DAY 7 – DINGBOCHE: REST AND ACCLIMATIZATION DAY
Altitude: 4,400m/14,435ft
This is your chance to rest up before the last leg of our adventure! Savor a full day of exploring Dingboche and the surrounding valleys of Chhukung and Imja, the latter of which links with Island Peak, the high passes of Amphu Laptsa, and Makalu Barun National Park. Taking an optional trek to the valleys will pay off in rewarding views, but taking it easy is the most important thing today. You’ll need your rest for the penultimate day of ascent tomorrow.
DAY 8 – DINGBOCHE TO LOBUCHE
Altitude: 4,900m/16,076ft Walking Distance: 11-12 km (6-7 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
From here on forth, the trek will move more gradually be more challenging, due to the higher altitude. We’ll pass Dungla, but not before a tough, steep walk to the top of a high hill. Here are the memorial stupas dedicated to the climbers and trekkers who lost their lives to Everest over the years. The next part of our adventure brings over craggy mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement with amazing views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse. Prepare to snuggle up for a cold night, as we are now almost three miles above sea level and the evenings can be downright chilly!
DAY 9 – LOBUCHE TO GORAKSHEP AND EVEREST BASE CAMP, EBC TO GOREKSHEP
Altitude: 5180m/16,994ft (Gorekshep) & 5364m/17598 (EBC) Distance of walking: 15km (6-8 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
This is it! Our big day kicks off with an initial, relatively easy trek from Lobuche to Gorekshep. The subsequent, straight trail to Everest Base Camp is harder, involving rocky dunes and moraine, formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris. On the way to our destination, we’ll approach the famed Khumbu Glacier and icefall, located on the slopes of Everest. At the Base Camp, our goal, you’ll have the chance (during the spring climbing season) to meet climbers attempting to scale the mountain’s summit. Break out your cameras for unbelievable views of breathtaking beauty. As the afternoon sun starts to wane, we’ll head back to Gorekshep for some much-needed rest and relaxation after a grueling and busy day.
DAY 10 – GOREKSHEP TO KALAPATHAR AND PHERICHE
Altitude: 5,545m/18,192ft (Kalapathar) & 4,320m/14,173ft (Pheriche) Walking distance: 12-13km (5-6 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
We’ll wake before dawn today to trek towards Kalapathar (which means “black rock”) for a fiery, glorious sunrise over Mt. Everest. The day’s first light will illuminate your spectacular view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse and Lhotse. This may be, of the whole journey, your most opportune moment to snap amazing pictures of Everest and its neighboring peaks. Afterwards, it’s back to Gorekshep for breakfast and down in the direction of Pheriche, our nighttime stop. Our pace will be a lot brisker as we descend, and the walking is easier going this way.
DAY 11 – PHERICHE TO NAMCHE
Altitude: 3,440m/11,284ft Distance of walking: 19 km (7-8 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
The walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche is mainly downhill, although it does, counterintuitively, require an hour scaling a hill. We’ll be in Namche by late afternoon and off to bed before our last day on the mountain.
DAY 12 – NAMCHE TO PHAKDING AND LUKLA
Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft Walking Distance: 19km (7-8 hours) – All distances and time estimates are approximate.
After breakfast, we trek toward the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then pass through several local villages. Our arrival in Lukla brings an evening in our last Tea House and, traditionally, a party with your trekking crew: you made it! Thanks to great teamwork and perseverance, you’ve accomplished a physical feat of which others only dream. This is your last night on the mountain, which can be bittersweet.
DAY 13 – LUKLA TO KATHMANDU
Altitude: 1350m/4428ft Flight time: 35 min
In the morning, you’ll hop a brief flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, where your journey both began and ends. You’ll transfer to your hotel upon landing for some much-needed solo rest and reflection after your trek conquering the Himalayas. We’ll reunite in the evening for a farewell dinner at one of the best Nepalese restaurants in town, where we’ll be eager to hear your feedback on the trip.
DAY 14 – KATHMANDU: DEPARTURE DAY
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft
It’s your last day in Nepal! Grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We’ll make sure you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport with plenty time before your flight home. At this time, we’ll say our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories and gorgeous photos to show your loved ones.

"Great Travel Agency to work with. Strongly recommended." - We have done the “Experience Nepal “ program in November 23 and everything has been extraordinary. I strongly recommend Kailas Journeys agency if you plan to go to Nepal. It was very easy to contact them by mail and they have been really helpful with practical information and answering timely to all our questions. They were also flexible to some changes to the program to accommodate to our preferences. During the stay Sujan Wasti was always following up on how the trip was going. Thanks a lot for your help!-Llendari, Madrid

5 Star · "It was the most enchanting 10 days and I am so glad to have engaged Kailash Journeys for our holiday in Nepal. From the beginning, Kailash has been very efficient in answering all our enquiries and providing us with all the necessary information prior to our trip....On the day of our arrival, we were picked up promptly at the airport and everything from then on was nothing less than stellar. All our check ins and check outs at the various hotels were seamless and we never had any administration hiccups. Our tour officer Mr Rajkumar Kurung was always checking up on us through phone calls and messages to make sure that we were doing good. He met us the day after our arrival in Kathmandu and on our last day before we departed home to make sure everything was okay and that we had a pleasant time. Customer relations as such is truly commendable.
Nepal has been a hugely humbling experience... Nepal has so much heart and hope. I am so thankful to have had this life changing experience. Thank you so much to Kailash Journeys for making this trip a truly memorable one for my sister and I. I wish Kailash Journeys the best and may the company reach greater heights!

5 Star · "I have taken 4N / 5D Trip plan from Kailash Journeys. Our guide Mr Laxman was very punctual, coming exactly on mentioned time and has good knowledge about places, drove skillfully well through the narrow hill roads . The trip was planned well. When we requested a change in the trip after reaching kathmandu it was accepted and Mr Rajkumar made the changes accordingly. They provided a car along with driver for sight seeings and pickup and drop at hotel. No need of hiring any other vehicle anywhere else. The trip was made very easy and memorable due to Kailash Journeys... I realised after the trip that the reviews about them are true and recommend Kailash Journeys for people visiting Nepal."

The trip was well planned & managed by Rajkumar Kurung who was our assigned tour officer. He received us at the airport and was in constant touch with us during the entire trip. He addressed some unexpected issues which came up due to local political situation and responded well to our request for change of hotel ... Overall, our experience in Nepal was very memorable thanks to Kailash Journeys and we will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wishes to visit Nepal.

Our Tour Officer Mr. Rajkumar Kurung and our guide Mr. Manoj were accommodating and took care of us... Spite of his personal medical emergency and Dasara holidays, Raj Kumar was approachable 24/7 and made our holidays wonderful and most memorable. Team is well aware of do's and don'ts, local holidays, good day/time to visit all places on time, food centers of tourist choices, contingency plans in case of emergencies, thus I would says whole hearted thanks to Kailash Journeys Pvt Ltd.
Would definitely recommend Kailash Journeys and hope you see all soon.

5 Star · "We were a group of four who visited Nepal in the middle of June 2016 for ten days. Our tour was customised to cover Kathmandu, Pokhara , Jomsom, Muktinath and Chitwan. Rajiv was extremely prompt in getting back with his emails and charted out our Itineary as per our specifications. We were especially pleased with our contact person Raj Kumar who would keep in touch with us from Kathamndu every morning even while we were away in Jomson or other places. Very helpful in rearranging our schedules due to changes in Itineary caused by the weather in Jomsom. A big thanks and appreciation to our driver Lakshman who navigated the steep roads and the traffic with ease. Would definitely recommend Kailash Journeys to others and hope to see you all again." 5 Star · Oct 01, 2015 · Our 1 week trip to Nepal was very good. We never thought Nepal could offer so much.....flying over the Himalayas in close range..... watching the beautiful sun-rises/sun-sets with the snow-clad mountains as the "on-looking heavens".... paragliding....... rafting in the swift flowing rivers...... journey into the glimpses of Nepal history/culture........... an adventure with wildlife (forests, rivers and wildlife). The road journeys between the touring towns themselves are so enjoyable and memorable. Cable car trip to Mankamana Temple is beyond expectation. The local people are so gentle, nice and sweet. Their hospitality is admirable.
The tour package and arrangements of Kailash Journeys (P) Ltd are very good. Completely satisfied. And I highly recommend their services to anyone planning to tour Nepal.

My husband and I enjoyed our time in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We really liked our driver. He took us to a manual cable car which connected a hill and the main street, and encouraged us to try it. It was awesome! We felt both scared and excited! He also made us get the cable car to Manakamana Temple fast! Our driver was also knowledgeable about the places we visited, no need a tourist guide. 5 Star · Feb 21, 2015 · Santosh Shrestha is by far the most helpful person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He replies to emails promptly, and met up with us and helped us after business hours to book a Mountain Flight. I will definatly book through Kailash Journeys again when we visit Nepal, and will recommend them to anyone else visiting. Thank you again for going beyond the line of duty. 🙂
5 Star · Feb 4, 2015 · Exemplary service. I planned everything online for which Sharmila Tamang needs special mention for always providing focused, clear and extremely prompt response. On arrival we were received at the Airport by Sabin and from there on the complete tour of 8 days went like clockwork with Sabin ensuring that schedule at morning 5 were met and all was in order till we called it a day everyday. They were also quick to respond to any uncontrollable issue and provide a quick and good alternate solution for the same. I would strongly recommend Kailash Journeys and Sabin and his team for planning a customised, budget friendly, trip to Nepal.
5 Star · December 3, 2014 · Excellent service by Kailash.
Will try and provide a review as detail as I can. Hopefully this will benefit others. Our trip was a family trip of 6 adults and 2 children, aged 8 and 10. Travel period : 15/11/2014 to 23/11/2014.
The ground budget package was for 9 days and 8 nights, Kathmandu for 2 days, Nagarkot for 1 night, Pokhara for 3 days and 2 days in Chitwan.Despite the long bumpy and rough journey on the winding roads, it turned out to be a great, fun and memorable family trip.Firstly, all our listless queries were answered clearly and promptly by Kailash before our arrival. The driver Mr Mohan is friendly man and has made us feel at ease at all times. As we are Muslims, our needs to offer our prayers and eat halal food were all taken into account.
Here are the lists of budget hotels that we stayed (arranged by Kailash) and a bit of review for each:1. Thamel Hotel Kathmandu:
Friendly hotel staffs, accessible within walking distance to do souvenir shopping. Walking distance to many restaurants including 2 halal restaurants (al Medina and al Mekka restaurants). The only downside is that the hotel room is comparatively small to other hotels we went.2. Peaceful Cottage Nagarkot:
Lovely, spacious and unique rooms with breathless mountain scenery. The rooms are too beautiful to be classified as a budget hotel. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. Only that, I found it very cold at night, without heating system in the rooms. The staffs did provide us with few hot water bottles. There was hot water supply at all hotels we went.3. Hotel Asia Pokhara:
Rooms are clean and spacious. Again, helpful and friendly hotel staffs. Honestly, we really think that in general, all the Nepalese are nice, friendly and very humble people. The hotel is above satisfactory level despite being a budget hotel. Also, from the rooftop, we were able to enjoy the mountain view of Annapurna Himalayan range. It would have been clearer if the weather was not misty.4. Rhino Lodge Chitwan:
We absolutely loved this place!! Must go there if u were to travel to Chitwan! We did not expect to have so much fun there. That's all we can say about Rhino Lodge. They catered to our halal meals at the hotel itself, throughout our stay. Loved their Masala tea!
The activities arranged by the hotel staffs which came as a package were superb! Village sightseeing, canoeing along misty river in early morning, jungle safari walk, bathing with the elephants, elephant ride in the jungle and river crossing for nearly 1 and a half hour probably longer, traditional dance…. All left us with wonderful memories!Other extra activities arranged by Kailash:
1. Paragliding with Sunrise Company and Phoenix Company. Both companies are equally good. Most of their paragliding pilots and instructors are from European countries. Few of them are Nepalese, able to speak very good English. They explained everything professionally and we were very satisfied! Even my 2 children enjoyed this experience.
2. Mountain flights with Simrik Airlines. Thank goodness we took this flight. Initially we were all frustrated with the weather in Pokhara and Nagarkot for not being able to fully enjoy the white mountain sceneries. We read few reviews in the internet saying that some people were not able to see clearly during their mountain flights and would like their money refund. Ours were different. We saw vividly from a near distance the surfaces and the peaks of Himalayan mountains.
3. Trekking up a hill (height 1150m from sea level), above is Peace Stupa/ Buddha Stupha. Not a single regret going up this hill, meeting the villagers and children up and down the hill, seeing their different ways of lives, and the view of the lakes, mountains etc up there wowww… like the ones we saw in the magazines and posters!Would suggest Kailash to add another activity like photograph session while wearing traditional Nepalese costumes during the trip. This, we arranged ourselves.Thank you very much Kailash for making our trip to Nepal such a memorable one, adventurous and full of emotions!
Recommended Kailash to everyone as the package price is reasonable and cheaper than other travel companies we enquired. Worth it!My husband, brother in law and uncle hope to return to Nepal for the Annapurna base camp trekking with Kailash.

Hi, Wanted to post a quick note about the great and friendly people at Kailsh journeys, and the awesome trip organized for us. They graciously converted our Kailsh trip deposit into a trip to Muktinath, and organized a great trip to Pashupathinath and Muktinath. Kalyan, Sagar and the entire team of drivers and others did a great job in escorting us all through, and accomodating our ever changing plans. Over 98 percent of the structures in KTM as still standing, most of the damage has been cleaned up well, and the place is absolutely beautiful, also Pokhare and Jomsom. Please visit Nepal, and it truly is heaven on earthView this Review on Facebook
